I showed the sisters fight scenes to a very good friend a while ago and her feedback to me was that they sounded like earth people. That presented an interesting dilemma in my brain – how to give the voices of Dacwen something unique to them? It spawned this, where I believe that some words from Dacwen should be unique to the planet. Here’s the list of what we’ve got so far, with a bit more to come I imagine. There’s so much that will be added to this scene! I still don’t have a complete picture of what Dacwen looks like.
I was reminded last night as I dove back into writing Book 3 of two things. One, how wonderful a feeling it is to get wrapped up the stories you love creating and two how important and awesome it is to have a group of friends that you can bounce ideas off of. My brain is often this crazy jumble of thoughts and it helps to have people I can talk too to sort through the voices.
The first scene is kind of a collection of thoughts that are taking shape. I am thinking (and this is subject to change as I continue writing the book) that I’d like to open showing who the Demiurge are, and what the process is for souls to get to Earth. In the second scene, I’m exploring what exactly happened on Dacwen that lead them as a society to determine that there should never be a king, only a queen.
Something of the ancient world that always fascinated me was the idea of Sacred Prostitution. How that really worked, and how different it was from the taboo subject it is today.
